Season opening in the Mitropa Rally Cup 2021 is coming soon
- The Mitropa Rally Cup starts at the end of May with the Rally Velenje in Slovenia.
- Due to the pandemic situation, the rally will not take place as previously planned.
- So far, 50 participants from four nations have already registered in the Mitropa Rally Cup.
(Munich, May 5, 2021) The organizers of Rally Velenje in Slovenia have been given their go-ahead to run the first Mitropa Rally Cup round at the end of May. From May 28-29, the teams will take the 113 kilometres event on the road. Due to the pandemic, the routes must be shortened this year.
The decision will be made on 6 special stages over a total of almost 78 KM. These are two different stages, which will be ridden a total of 3 times. The service area on the airfield in the immediate neighbourhood of the city of Velenje guarantees compliance with the Corona distance rules.
The supplementary regulations including the schedule is available on the event website, entries are accepted fom now on. However, only 90 teams will be admitted, so interested teams should be prepared to be quick.
The Mitropa Rally Cup has announced 50 registered participants from Hungary, Germany, Italy and Austria. Teams competing for points here can register online via the Mitropa Rally Cup website.

The Mitropa Rally Cup is of the oldest rally series in Europe. It was founded in 1965. Famous names such as Sandro Munari, Franz Wittmann, „Lucky“ Luigi Battistolli, Armin Schwarz and Hermann Gassner have already entered their names in the series‘ winners‘ lists. Fans affectionately refer to the Mitropa Rally Cup as the „unofficial European Rally Championship for private drivers.“ The series is a championship recognized by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile). Participants can register in the categories FIA homologated vehicles and historic vehicles according to FIA Appendix K.
